Slow mana setup — the deck depends on Chromatic Sphere and Rampant Growth to operate across five colors, leaving it exposed to early artifact removal and land disruption before it reaches critical mass.
Sweeper — bound defense - Pernicious Deed is the primary board stabilizer, but it only clears permanents at one chosen mana value per activation, so threats spread across varied costs or permanent types dodge a single use and force it to trade down.
Graveyard as a crutch — Gaea's Blessing supplies the late-game inevitability by recycling spent cards, creating a hard dependency on the graveyard; static graveyard hate shuts off the recycling entirely and forces the deck to win from a finite pool.
Conditional permission — Evasive Action only becomes cheap once the deck controls several basic land types, so fast pressure before the full five-color base is assembled catches it without reliable countermagic and exposes its reactive plan to quick linear strategies.

How to win with it

Mulligan any hand that cannot cast a turn-two Rampant Growth or does not contain at least one of Swords to Plowshares, Pernicious Deed, or Evasive Action: fixing your mana and answering early threats are the two non-negotiable requirements, so a hand of five lands and a lone Fact or Fiction is a brick, not a keep.
Sequence Rampant Growth on turn two ahead of anything else, even over a turn-two Chromatic Sphere. Getting a basic into play stabilizes your five-color mana, turns on every subsequent spell, and makes Pernicious Deed and Fact or Fiction reliably castable on curve in the following turns.
Hold Pernicious Deed until sacrificing it sweeps at least two permanents, or until one must-kill permanent threatens to end the game alone; when you sacrifice Deed you choose X equal to its current mana cost, so destroying everything at that value to kill a single attacker is correct only when the alternative is losing, because you usually want Deed for the mid-game reset.
The dream draw is Rampant Growth into Pernicious Deed or Swords to Plowshares to stabilize, a turn-four Fact or Fiction to reload, then a cycled Krosan Tusker to patch your mana, closing by cycling Decree of Justice at the end of the opponent's turn to dump a wall of Soldier tokens; the whole sequence keeps mana open for interaction while assembling an unanswerable board.
The grind plan is built on Gaea's Blessing: Burning Wish legally fetches it from your sideboard because it is a sorcery, and once it sits in your deck it shuffles your graveyard back into your library the moment it is milled, making you nearly impossible to deck while Fact or Fiction and Impulse keep refilling your hand until you can cycle Decree of Justice for a token swarm the opponent cannot counter.
The recurring decision each turn is whether to develop (play Rampant Growth, cycle Krosan Tusker, cast Impulse) or commit to a clock (hard-cast or cycle Decree of Justice): default to developing until you hold a lethal threat plus enough untapped mana to back it with Evasive Action or a reactive Pernicious Deed, and never jam Decree of Justice into an open board if doing so leaves you unable to protect the tokens or reset the game.

How to beat it

Race the card-advantage engine before it snowballs: 5 Color Control needs time to assemble its mana, cycle through Fact or Fiction, and find Decree of Justice or another resilient finisher, so deploy threats that demand an immediate answer before those engines come online, because once the card-advantage gap opens it rarely closes.
Go wide enough that a single Pernicious Deed trades down badly: spreading your threats across multiple permanent types and different mana costs forces the controller to either set a low Deed value that leaves your bigger threats alive or wait and lose more cards, since one activation only destroys permanents at the chosen cost or below.
Deny the complex mana base: the deck leans on Chromatic Sphere and Rampant Growth to fix five colors, so pressuring those with artifact removal or land denial early pinches it off its most powerful plays before Pernicious Deed can stabilize the board.
Attack the graveyard before Gaea's Blessing resets it: graveyard hate applied while the deck's threat count is still low stops Gaea's Blessing from reshuffling its answers and win conditions back into the library, turning its late-game resilience into a finite resource that runs dry.
Punish the permission package: Evasive Action gets cheaper only as the deck controls more basic land types, so apply early pressure before the full five-color base is online and present two threats into open mana at once to force a choice, then resolve whichever spell it cannot afford to counter.
