Cephalid Breakfast
Reanimator Combo
Overview
"Cephalid Breakfast mills its entire library in one turn by repeatedly redirecting damage to Cephalid Illusionist with Nomads en-Kor, or by activating Hermit Druid with no basic lands, then reanimates a lethal Sutured Ghoul that gains haste from a Dragon Breath already in the graveyard for an immediate swing. Eladamri's Call tutors either mill engine, while Reanimate, Exhume, and Shallow Grave give redundant reanimation paths. Cabal Therapy and Duress strip interaction before the combo turn, giving it a disruptive shell that sets it apart from pure glass-cannon reanimator decks."
Game Plan
Cephalid Breakfast is a proactive combo deck built around a two-stage engine: self-mill the entire library in a single activation, then reanimate a lethal threat with haste before the opponent can untap. The discard suite of Cabal Therapy and Duress clears the path rather than accelerating toward the combo. Birds of Paradise ties the greedy nonbasic mana base together while the deck hunts for one of its two mill engines: Hermit Druid, whose activation dumps every card into the graveyard because the mana base contains zero basic lands, or the Cephalid Illusionist plus Nomads en-Kor pair, whose looping damage-redirect chains mill three cards at a time until nothing remains. Eladamri's Call at instant speed finds whichever creature is missing, compressing the deck's search into a single fetchable slot. Once the library is in the graveyard, Reanimate, Exhume, or Shallow Grave puts Sutured Ghoul into play, exiling the stacked graveyard to give it power and toughness counted in dozens, while Dragon Breath, already sitting in the graveyard, automatically re-attaches and grants haste for a kill that same turn.
When graveyard hate or creature removal interrupts the primary line, the deck leans on its redundancy rather than conceding the game. Krosan Reclamation returns Sutured Ghoul and Dragon Breath to the top of the library so the next reanimation spell finds a live target; a subsequent Cabal Therapy flashback, sacrificing one of the spent mill creatures, can pry open a second window. Terravore functions as a true backup finisher: after a full self-mill it grows enormous from all the lands in the graveyard and can be returned by the same reanimation spells. The grind plan is simply to exhaust the opponent's answers one at a time with targeted discard, then reassemble the engine through Eladamri's Call and resolve the kill on the turn when only empty hands remain.
