Miracle Grow
Miracle Grow Tempo
Overview
"Miracle Grow is a blue-green tempo deck that turns a free-spell engine into an explosive clock. Gush, Foil, and Daze let it draw and counter without paying mana, each cheap spell swelling Quirion Dryad while Gaea's Skyfolk and Lord of Atlantis pressure life totals. Opt, Portent, and Sleight of Hand chain into Counterspell and Swords to Plowshares, and Winter Orb chokes the opponent off mana."
Game Plan
Miracle Grow opens by deploying a threat on turn one or two, most often Quirion Dryad, and immediately begins fueling it with a stream of cheap cantrips. Portent and Opt sculpt the hand while each blue or green spell placed on the stack grows the Dryad another counter. Gaea's Skyfolk and Lord of Atlantis provide a redundant clock: a flying 2/2 on turn two and a lord that pumps the deck's Merfolk (including itself and the Skyfolk) while both bodies apply early pressure. Mox Diamond lets the deck accelerate past the mana curve, enabling a turn-two Quirion Dryad into a Portent or Daze on the same turn. The ideal sequence lands a threat, then spends the next two turns casting cantrips and counters for free or nearly free (Daze with a returned Island and Foil by pitching cards), so the Dryad arrives for combat as a 4/4 or larger while the opponent's development is still stalled.
The lock plan is the deck's secondary axis and its most punishing line. Winter Orb, often deployed before the opponent stabilizes, seals the game once Mox Diamond lets Miracle Grow operate at near-zero mana cost. Gush refuels the hand by bouncing Islands the deck no longer needs while still triggering Quirion Dryad's growth; Counterspell and Swords to Plowshares answer whatever slips through Daze. Fire // Ice provides versatile reach, pinging blockers or tapping a key permanent, while the deck's island count stays low enough that Daze remains relevant well into the mid-game. Against grind matchups, the combination of Lord of Atlantis's tribal bonus, Gush-fueled card advantage, and a locked opponent often closes the game before interaction becomes a factor.
