The Solution
Aggro-Control
Overview
"The Solution is a white-blue-red aggro-control deck that opens with Meddling Mage to name a card the opponent cannot cast, then uses Mother of Runes to tap and grant a creature protection from a color, shielding Meddling Mage or an attacking Angel from targeted removal. Counterspell, Mana Leak, and Fire // Ice police the stack while Lightning Bolt and Prophetic Bolt burn out threats, with Fact or Fiction and Impulse refilling the hand. Lightning Angel closes games with flying, vigilance, and haste while Exalted Angel stabilizes by gaining life on every hit, letting the deck disrupt like control yet kill like aggro."
Game Plan
The Solution is a three-color aggro-control deck that wins by layering disruption onto a small clock of evasive angels. The opening turns are spent sculpting: Portent and Impulse sort the top of the library early, while Mother of Runes on turn one sets up a free protection effect each subsequent turn. Meddling Mage arrives on turn two to surgically excise the opponent's most dangerous answer, buying time for the real threats. Lightning Bolt and Fire // Ice handle early blockers and tempo out anything that gets through the Mage's naming lock, with Mana Leak and Counterspell held up each end step to tax or deny anything meaningful that tries to resolve. That permission umbrella is what transforms a normal angel into a guaranteed clock: the opponent must fight through disruption before they can even threaten the creatures closing the game.
The win condition lands on turn four or five. Lightning Angel, with flying, vigilance, and haste, attacks immediately and untaps to block, collapsing the opponent's window to stabilize. Exalted Angel follows as a second closer and a life-total reset, its damage trigger gaining four life each time it connects and extending the clock indefinitely against burn or aggressive decks. Mother of Runes protects either angel from targeted removal by granting protection from a color on demand, causing Swords to Plowshares and Lightning Bolt aimed at your angels to fizzle as illegal targets. When the game extends into attrition, Fact or Fiction rebuilds the hand with whichever pile best fits the moment (interaction if the board is contested, threats if the path is clear), and Disenchant peels away the enchantments or artifacts that disrupt the mana-open, countermagic-up rhythm the deck requires to operate.
