Game Plan

UW Control operates on a single governing principle: every opponent's spell should be countered or answered at instant speed, and every UW mana should do useful work. Early turns establish a mana base across Adarkar Wastes and Flooded Strand while Impulse finds the pieces a given matchup demands. Counterspell and Mana Leak guard each subsequent turn, leaving the deck free to land Standstill on an empty board, effectively reading "draw three or take free turns," since an opponent who stops playing simply watches the deck hit land drops undisturbed. Swords to Plowshares handles creatures that slip through, Wrath of God resets boards that grow too wide, and Humility converts the most dangerous creature strategies into irrelevant 1/1 traffic.

Once permission and removal have cleared the board, the deck converts accumulated mana into a win. Fact or Fiction is the engine that makes this conversion reliable: cast with blue mana still available, it recoups resources while threatening to find the closing piece. Decree of Justice is the primary finisher: cycled at instant speed on the opponent's end step, it produces a soldier army sized to available white mana at a moment the opponent cannot interrupt. Exalted Angel offers a secondary path: morphed down under permission cover and flipped on a clear board, it generates a life buffer that makes racing impossible. Both threats sidestep the deck's own sweepers: Decree's tokens arrive after Wrath mana is spent, and Exalted Angel's life gain absorbs any follow-up the opponent manages.
