Wake Control
Ramp Control
Overview
"A white-blue-green permission deck that pairs a full suite of counterspells, Swords to Plowshares, and Wrath of God with the enchantment Mirari's Wake, which doubles all mana produced and pumps every creature. Once Wake lands, Decree of Justice scales from a cycling token-maker into a hard-cast army of angels, ending the game on the spot while Counterspell, Mana Leak, and Absorb hold the line. Gaea's Blessing recycles key spells back into the library, giving the deck near-inexhaustible staying power in the long grind that defines control mirrors."
Game Plan
Wake Control opens as a classic permission-and-answer deck, spending the first three turns deploying interaction (Swords to Plowshares for creatures, Mana Leak or Counterspell for spells) while Compulsion and Deep Analysis quietly filter the hand and Mox Diamond compresses the mana curve by a full turn. Every early resource is spent buying time for the deck's engine: Mirari's Wake. Once the enchantment resolves on turn four or five, usually protected by Absorb or Counterspell left up on the stack, the game shifts from survival into a mana-doubling engine that makes every subsequent action twice as powerful. Moment's Peace serves as the critical bridge fog: it stops an alpha strike cold, and its flashback buys a second turn, giving the deck the one or two breathing cycles it needs to untap with Mirari's Wake and seize the initiative.
With Mirari's Wake doubling each land's output, Intuition on the opponent's end step assembles the kill, fetching Decree of Justice plus two Gaea's Blessings as insurance, and the following main phase a hard-cast Decree of Justice creates a lethal board of 4/4 flying angels in a single action. Cunning Wish provides a pressure valve at every stage, fetching a missing answer or reaching Hunting Pack as a surprise token finisher from the sideboard. Against decks that trade resources aggressively, Fact or Fiction and Deep Analysis refuel the hand so that Gaea's Blessing's shuffle trigger can recycle spent counters and cleared wraths, making the library itself inexhaustible and converting attrition into inevitable victory as opponents run dry.
