White Control
Mono-White Control
Overview
"A white midrange-control deck that backs efficient creatures with disruption and a token engine. Savannah Lions, Soltari Champion, Whipcorder, and Mother of Runes apply early pressure while Battle Screech and Decree of Justice flood the board, and Exalted Angel and Eternal Dragon supply recurring late-game inevitability. Swords to Plowshares, Parallax Wave, and Wrath of God control the board, Seal of Cleansing answers artifacts and enchantments, and Armageddon locks in a lead by stranding the opponent on a wrecked mana base."
Game Plan
White Control is a mana-denial deck built around a single devastating pivot: establish a permanent on the board, then erase all lands with Armageddon while the opponent is still scrambling to answer it. The opening turns exist purely to load that pivot: Savannah Lions and Haunted Angel apply just enough early pressure to threaten a clock, Mother of Runes keeps the key threat alive through spot removal, and Swords to Plowshares buys the time needed to reach four mana with the board in your favor. Parallax Wave does double duty as a combat trick and a reset button, exiling opposing threats before the land destruction lands so the opponent wakes up on an empty board facing a live attacker.
When the pivot fails or the matchup demands patience, the deck shifts to an attrition engine that very few Premodern decks can outlast. Exalted Angel morphs in for three mana and flips into a lifelink clock that demands an immediate answer; Eternal Dragon plainscycles for {1}{W} to hit every land drop and returns from the graveyard turn after turn, creating card advantage through repetition rather than raw draw. Decree of Justice converts surplus mana at the end of the opponent's turn into a wave of soldier tokens that can be deployed ahead of Wrath of God to reassert board control. Seal of Cleansing sits on the table as a permanent threat against artifact and enchantment strategies, denying the opponent the freedom to develop their own engine. The deck wins either by leaving the opponent permanently stranded on two or fewer lands, or by grinding through card-efficient recurrence until no answer remains.
