Oath Ponza
Land Destruction Midrange
Overview
"Oath Ponza dismantles opposing mana bases with Thermokarst, Winter's Grasp, and Stone Rain, then resolves Oath of Druids to put Terravore directly into play from the library. Each land destroyed feeds Terravore, which grows for every land card in all graveyards, so the disruption that strips the opponent's lands simultaneously enlarges the win condition. Enlightened Tutor finds Oath of Druids or Sylvan Library, Sphere of Resistance accelerated out by Mox Diamond taxes the rebuild, and Sylvan Library buries the game behind an oversized Terravore."
Game Plan
Oath Ponza is a mana-denial combo-midrange deck that wins by building an asymmetric game state before the opponent can function. The opening plan is to deploy Sphere of Resistance, ideally on turn one off Mox Diamond pitching a land, and then use the tempo gained to resolve Oath of Druids while the tax makes every opponent answer cost an extra mana. Once Oath of Druids is in play it becomes a standing threat: the moment the opponent commits any creature, Oath triggers at the next upkeep and flips cards until Terravore enters the battlefield for free. The land-destruction suite of Thermokarst and Winter's Grasp then does double duty, stranding the opponent on a shrinking mana base while every land that falls into any graveyard makes Terravore larger. Mishra's Factory and Treetop Village round out the threat package as resilient, uncounterable attackers that keep pressure on without needing Oath to fire.
When the one-two punch of Sphere of Resistance plus Oath of Druids comes together, the game collapses quickly: a Terravore that already counts six or eight graveyard lands is a lethal clock in one or two attacks, and an opponent taxed and land-stranded cannot pay for answers. When the fast draw is absent, Sylvan Library sustains the long game, drawing into consecutive land-destruction spells, finding another Oath of Druids, or digging for Terravore to hard-cast through the Sphere tax once enough lands are in graveyards. Pyroclasm manages aggro boards and incidentally keeps opponent creature counts high enough to keep Oath active. The entire engine feeds itself: each spell that destroys a land both weakens the opponent's rebuild and fattens the Lhurgoyf that will end the game.
